We are so grateful that you’re willing to traverse the high seas, or at least a scenic ferry ride, to celebrate with us. Bald Head Island is a truly unique destination and getting here is part of the adventure! To make things easier, we’ve broken the journey down into four stages: flights, transportation to the marina, your nautical voyage, and on-island transportation.

  • The closest airport is Wilmington International Airport (ILM), located about a 45-minute drive from the ferry terminal at Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC.

    Alternatively, you can fly into Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR), which is approximately an hour and a half from the ferry terminal.

  • From the airport, you'll need to take a ride to the ferry terminal at Deep Point Marina (1301 Ferry Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461). Transportation options include Uber, Lyft, Taxi, or one of the many private car services in the Wilmington or Myrtle Beach area. We recommend A&B Transportation Service at (910) 233-3243, Coastal Event Shuttle at (910) 685-7871, or Robert’s Driving Service at (402) 871-3954.

    While it is easy to get a rideshare or taxi from the airport to the marina, we have found that for the return trip, it is best to arrange a private car service to ensure availability.

    Once at the marina, you'll board the ferry to Bald Head Island.

  • All aboard! The ferry ride is a quick 20-minute journey across the Cape Fear River, a relaxing and picturesque way to start your island adventure.

    Private Transfer Option:
    If you prefer a smaller, more personalized journey, you can arrange a private boat transfer with our longtime friend Captain “Uncle” Ted. More information on his fleet and services can be found here, but we encourage you to reach out to him directly at (910) 931-1611 to coordinate your journey.

    BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat):
    For the extra brave, if you choose to bring your own boat to Bald Head for the festivities, the Bald Head Island Marina offers docking facilities. More information can be found here or by calling (910) 457-7380.

  • When you purchase your ferry ticket, you will be able to opt-in to receive the free tram shuttle service, which will take you from the ferry to your rental home upon arriving to the island.

    The primary modes of transportation on Bald Head are golf carts and bicycles as there are no cars permitted on the island. Most accommodations come with golf carts included, but please double check beforehand.

    If needed, Cary Cart Company rents golf carts, and is located within walking distance from the ferry drop-off on Bald Head Island. Bike rentals are also available from Coastal Urge and Riverside Outdoor Recreation.
